Mixed Delivery Preschool Enrollment in Chicago: Community Conversations to Understand Trends, Impacts, and Solutions

This project takes a hyperlocal approach and employs participatory design methods to convene and collaborate with local community councils within three Chicago neighborhoods to:

(1)       Better understand how the mixed-delivery preschool system is operating in Chicago, including how community-based early childhood education and care organizations are experiencing the expansion of universal pre-k.

(2)       Identify likely roadblocks and generate potential solutions for providing mixed delivery preschool in neighborhoods across Chicago.

In support of the Office of the Mayor’s Every Child Ready Chicago (ECRC) initiative, and sponsored by Start Early, this project will culminate in a set of citywide recommendations for supporting an equitable and accessible mixed delivery system that we expect to release in 2025.
